South Africa is suffering from one of its worst heat waves and will only turn to more livable climatic conditions by Wednesday.
Scientists attribute the heat to the fact that these are characteristic features of global warming that will be experienced more and more in the future.
The Northern Cape, where the drought is the worst in decades, had parts of new record temperatures, and the record was last week at 50.1 degrees Celsius, and Vioolsdrif set a new record on Sunday with 54% worst is in the world.
Vioolsdrif is located near the border with Namibia, and the temperature measurement was done according to international standards, and is now regarded as the highest temperature in the world.
